Today was the last day of operation for Paddington Station, the daycare that Carson went to up until this week.
Paddington’s was a real gem and was beloved by parents and kids alike. It will be sorely missed and even though, for us, we’d only known them for a short while (and Carson only went 2 days a week), it’s sad to think that it will no longer be there.
But the owners were ready to retire after almost thirty years of running it. And with the new Family Y Daycare opening up with plenty of room for all, it was the perfect time to do so. We wish them well and thank them for creating such a wonderful environment for so many kids who attended over the years.
Of course, the main reason the place was so well-liked was because of the staff. What a wonderful group of ladies. Their gentle but firm way with the kids was a marvel to me. I spent enough time hanging around talking and watching to know that they didn’t just know what they were doing, they cared about what they were doing as well. If I was going to open a daycare, I’d hire them all right away!
We’ll miss you all.
And thank you.
Well, today Joni had to work, but Carson & I dropped by for a visit and to say goodbye again. I’m glad we did and apparently we weren’t the only ones … parents & kids dropped by all day to wish them well and say goodbye.
I took some pictures, so here’s a few of them.

A few of the kids from Carson’s group are in this pic.
We wish each of you the best in your new endeavors and hope to see you all again some time soon. (I hope you won’t mind if Carson wants to give you a big hug when he sees you because I have a feeling he will.)

Aw, cut it out, will ya … you’re gonna make us cry now.
The kids were so lucky to have all you guys in their lives and I believe that the kinds of positive reinforcement and encouragement they experienced with you will stay with them and help shape the kinds of people they turn out to be.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. My “Number 1 Son” is 24 years old. I have four all together. I was thinking the Charlie Chan reference, too when I started calling my sons “Number 1″, “Number 2″, etc. on my blog (and its predecessor).
Your “Number 1 Son” is a cutie, BTW!
Take care– Stef
