The Number 1 Son went out as Scooby Doo last night. Talk about an excited pup! Yours truly went as Shaggy, and the Mommy Unit went as a witch (they couldn’t find a suitable Velma or Daphne wig, only a witch … but he said that was ok with him).
It was cool and windy, but no rain, so all-in-all it was a good night considering the weather we’d been having. Cousin Luke shelled out for us so we could go out (thanks again, Luke).

Scoobs shows off his Scooby Snacks, which he & I concocted.

His pal Ewan, dressed as a monkey, came by with mom & dad for a visit.

The next-door neighbours were the first house of the night, where the dog Keely was dressed as Super Dog! He thought Scoobs was great.

Papa’s mask scared the little pup so badly that he lept up into the witch’s arms!

Speaking of scary, check out these little monsters from the next street over who called as we arrived back from ‘rick or ‘reating. My lens fogged up when I came back in the house, which I think added a cool effect to the shot.

And this is the dad … man, creepy or what! Nice job on the costume, Mike.

And then, to top it off, uncle Jack scared the living bejeezus out of him with this delightful duo. He was this close to completely bawling when I asked Jack to knock it off. I think he felt bad afterwards. Ya think?
In case you wondered, the new theme wasn’t working, so I’m back to the original one. I loved being able to put up larger-sized videos, but the flexible width of the window was creating viewing problems. Thanks to those who sent me notes on it.
But there will be changes in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned. (Oh, and here’s that backyard image I had posted to test out the new theme.)
This is the latest in the series I’ve called the “Alphabet Project”. Continuing with the photo-wandering and just seeing what catches my eye theme, I started with the letter A, and will work my way through the alphabet to Z, going out as often as I can to photograph things that begin with the letter for that day.
For this initial series, I’m doing businesses in and around Port Elgin and Southampton (otherwise known as Saugeen Shores). Many thanks to those participating businesses. Click on the names to view their websites, when applicable.
You can scroll down to view each letter’s post, or click on the Alphabet Project in the Categories section of the sidebar to see them all together. I’m quite enjoying this little photography project. I hope you do, too.
THE QUEENS BAR & GRILL, Port Elgin:
Here’s a version of a photo-vid I did up from the Fall Family Shoot on the weekend. Haven’t done one of these for a while, so I’d forgotten how cool they are. Check it out.
I also made a high-resolution dvd copy of it for the family so they can play it at home. (But Rob’s not allowed to play it on the flat screen in the basement because that’s his Boston Bruins room, and, well … it just wouldn’t be right!)
Plus I’ve ordered a hard-cover photo book, which I should take some pics of to put up on the blog because they’re so beautifully printed.
doneWent for a nice walk at Saugeen Bluffs last weekend with Jack & Lanny and the kids. Turned out to be a beautiful day. Afterward, we went to their place for a leftover turkey lunch.
(I took some family group shots, but I haven’t done anything with them yet, so I’m only posting the one of us, which is at the bottom.)
Some post-Pumpkinfest pics from 2 weekends ago. (A little slow around here, I know.)
The weather wasn’t good, but the rain held off long enough on Saturday morning to spend some time there. Sunday was much better, but the crowds were way down. Hopefully next year’s weather will be better.
The Number 1 Son is pictured standing in front of the winning pumpkin (1678 lbs), proudly displaying a dead weed he found on the ground.
The bumper cars were a highlight for me, especially when we got to smash into Sarah, one the neighbour friends. And we also met his friend Britain there, so they took a spin on a ride together. Speaking of spin, Sarah went for quite a spin on a ride that you couldn’t pay me to go on! She looks like she’s having fun … I think.
